Shibori, which means to squeeze, wring, or press, is an 8th-century Japanese Tie-Dye technique. We use it to produce gorgeous patterns on outfits.

The unique designs result from binding, folding, and twisting the fabrics using wooden blocks, rubber bands, and strings before dipping them in dye.

Love the tie dye

The top of the dress is smocked all the way around, which I somehow missed in the description. I think it works really well with the full skirt. It is nicely made, fully lined, with pockets. I was between sizes and sized up - probably could have gone with the smaller size. Love love the tie dye pattern. It is so intricate - definitely NOT a 3rd grade art project - I will wear it to work. I wore it the day after I received it, and it was very comfortable.
